7 Loaves’ name is taken from the Biblical story of Jesus miraculously feeding a large crowd, using seven loaves of bread and a few fish, symbolizing exponential provision and growth. 7 Loaves’ mission is “Bridging Third World Artisans and First World Consumers through Fair Trade”. By choosing to purchase from 7 Loaves, you have become a traveler along that economic bridge. The purpose of this bridge is to provide you the consumer with BOTH an excellent product, AND a mission driven story from the artisan.

The artisans at the beginning of the economic bridge depend upon the income generated by your purchase. Over 80% of the artisans are women, and live in poverty stricken environments. Your purchase provides a “hand up” versus a “hand out”, the difference between children going to school versus working for subsistence food, women with real jobs and dignity versus working in the sex trade, and communities that grow in a sustainable and holistic way versus a cycle downward further into poverty and despair.
